Athen B. Gallery – 2 Year Anniversary Group Show

As Athen B Gallery approaches their Two Year Anniversary, the gallery is proud to announce a group exhibition that just open this past Saturday, June 10th at 7pm in Downtown Oakland.

Group Exhibition – “Muscle Memory” @ Athen B. Gallery

Athen B. Jim Houser – New Works for Upcoming Show

Philadelphia based artist Jim Houser has recently been working on a new body of work for an upcoming show at Paradigm Gallery + Studio in his hometown of Philly. Houser’s work fuses collage and painting along with whimsical iconography elements and can be on view for his show “And Yet Not Yet” opening April 28th, 2017.

Will Kurtz – Newspaper Sculptures

Will Kurtz was born in Flint, Michigan and received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Michigan State University in 1981. He practiced as a landscape architect for 25 years, throughout the United States and Canada. It wasn’t until he was in his mid thirties that he began creating art as a self-taught artist. Eventually his passion for art superseded landscape architecture and he moved to New York at the age of 50 to attend graduate school at the New York Academy of Art. After graduation with an MFA he was selected to remain and do a one-year fellowship. He has since had several solo and group shows and has  been reptresented by several galleries including Mike Weiss Gallery, New York, Queene Anne Galerie, Leipzig, Germany, Converge Gallery, PN and Stricoff Gallery, NY. His work is in many prominent collections around the world. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

Lokiss – Mixed Media Installations

LOKISS –Multi‐sided artist, lives and works in France. He is one of the pioneers in the European graffiti culture, as well as one of the main actors of its esthetic renewal. Under his alias Vincent Elka, his work mainly utilises new media and video.

His work has been displayed in a number of Paris galleries, including the Lavignes Bastille, Bailly, and Celal galleries. Since his work extends on such a wide variety of media formats, viewers the public was also able to discover his work at the Vasarely Foundation (France), at the Rotterdam Film Festival, or at the Elektra Festival in Montreal.

Group Exhibition – “Reset” @ Athen B. Gallery

Athen B. Gallery is pleased to present “Reset”, a group exhibition coming to Oakland January 14th featuring the works of twelve local, national and international artists. Some of the artists in the exhibition, like Augustine Kofie, Dave Kinsey and Duncan Jago, are considered to be veterans in the urban contemporary movement.

They will be hanging alongside emerging artists like Aubrey Learner, Christie Yuri Noh and Pakayla Rae. By hand selecting a diverse array of techniques, styles, and aesthetics, we have aimed to make this our most surreal exhibition to date. We’re excited to have Smithe, Pakayla Rae, Kelly Ording, Duncan Jago, Dave Kinsey, Curiot and Augustine Kofie joining us for the first time. We couldn’t be happier to welcome back Nicolas Romero, Martina Merlini, Jean Nagai and Aubrey Learner back for another exhibition at Athen B. Gallery in Downtown Oakland.

Be sure to check out the show on Saturday, January 14th at 7pm for the opening reception of “Reset”. They gallery is conveniently located in Downtown Oakland at 1525 Webster St. just off both 12th and 19th st Bart Stations. The exhibition will be on view through February 3, 2017. Jon Ander Garcia – Various Sculptures

Jon Ander Garcia is a fine artist born in 1989 in Santurtzi and currently lives and works in Bilbao. Garcia received BA of Fine Art at Faculty of Fine Art, University of the Basque Country, Spain in 2015 and is currently Currently pursuing MA in Art Research and Creation. Faculty of Fine Art, University of the Basque Country, Spain. Garcia creates incredible mixed media sculpture work that resemble something for the future.
