2016 brings us a new iteration of 4%ers, a group show at Athen B. Gallery which originated last year at FFDG in San Francisco, this time with a slightly wilder premise. Founded on principals such as exclusion and defiance, this year’s group seeks to express this boldness rather than stifle it internally. More info and images after the click.

June 11th marks the One Year Anniversary of Athen B. Gallery opening its doors to the Bay Area community. With monthly exhibitions and numerous public art projects ranging from sculpture installations to murals, it’s been one hell of a year. We would like to express our gratitude for the opportunity to serve the neighborhood and its art community. We look forward to more years of receptions, mural tours, class visits and open studios.
To commemorate the anniversary, we have created an exhibition for the community with 15 talented locally and internationally based artists that embody the core aesthetics we value as a creative space. The viewer will enjoy a range of work from ceramic sculptures, paintings, illustrations, neon and mixed media.

Athen B Gallery is excited to announce we will be working with a really great artist named Axel Void on his new solo exhibition “Nobody” in 222 Broadway in Downtown Oakland this Saturday May 7th at 7pm. It will be a month long exhibition with pop up hours on the weekend and people can schedule private viewings outside of pop up hours.
The exhibition will feature a new body of work he has created in the Athen B. Studios including a series of new oil paintings, a large sculpture bust that will be cast in cement and a documentary film that will premier at the exhibition. This month, Italian based artist Martina Merlini recently completed a beautiful large mural in Oakland’s Jack London District with us at Athen B. Gallery. The mural was created in harmony with the group exhibition “Ready, Set” by Martina, Brett Flanigan and Heather Day at Athen B. Gallery opening this Saturday, April 9th through May 6th. The mural is located on 4th and Washington in Oakland, CA.

Athen B Gallery presents a new group exhibition entitled “Hanging Gardens” including artists: Andrea Joyce Heimer, Kate Klingbeil, Michael Olivo and Woodrow White. The show will open this weekend Saturday, March 12th at 7pm.
Athen B. Gallery recently completed a project working alongside mural artist Ricky Lee Gordon in Downtown Oakland. The South African artist created a portrait and typography based mural featuring the words “I Am A Human Through The Reflection Of Your Humanity Back At Me.” The mural is located at 21st and Franklin / Broadway St. in Downtown Oakland.
Athen B.Gallery is proud to announce,“Opus Die”,a solo exhibition by SanFrancisco artist, Beau Adams. Adams creates richly textured oil paintings on canvas and finely detailed watercolor works on paper with gold leaf applique. In a style inspired by classical pietas and Byzantine era icon paintings, the works introduce modern symbolism and ideologies. Beau creates images of holy men with patterned vestments and Russian gang tattoos, vivid and energetic oil paintings borrowing from classical composition that highlight a violence intertwined with religion throughout history. “OpusDie” is a play on the name of a religious sect Opus Dei, meaning “Work of God.” The exhibition opens on February 13th in Downtown Oakland with us at Athen B. Gallery.
Oakland based Athen B. Gallery proudly presents “My Sentiments Abstractly” a solo exhibition by Reno based artist OverUnder. Opening reception is this Saturday, November 14th starting at 7pm. More information and images after the jump!
